If you aren't already a fan, you will be. As a music producer, he has won numerous Grammy Awards and has also been nominated for Academy, Golden Globe and Emmy Awards. Of course, this is just a warm-up for the 8-time Grammy Award winner Natalie Cole. Her performance will include her famous award-winning duet with her late father, Nat King Cole.
The evening will begin at 5:30 pm in the Plaza at L.A. Live! (outside the Nokia Theatre). Upon arrival, Rotarians from around the world will be embraced by the glitter of lights, the sound of great music, and the lure of stepping back in time as they journey through a display of classic cars and a California art exhibit. Exciting live musical entertainment on the outdoor Plaza stage will feature Grammy Award nominated Roger Neumann and his 18 piece big band, with vocalist Madeline Vergari, also a Grammy Award nominee. Other performers in the Plaza will include The Concert Singers, celebrating 60 years of musical performances by singing favorite Hollywood movie themes. The Plaza will also feature some of LA's most talented dancers, capturing the latest in jazz and hip hop. Guests will find an exhibit of wonderful California Art on display inside the Nokia Theatre, along with a Latin jazz combo and vocalist. Rotarians will also enjoy of bit of nostalgia in the fantastic classic cars situated throughout the Plaza. An unforgettable evening of movies and music featuring the world famous Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, conducted by David Newman is being planned for all Rotarians and their guests attending the LA2008 R.I. Convention. Famous scenes and scores from Casablanca and Harry Potter among others are being planned. The Warner Bros. cartoon legacy will not be overlooked in the show, so there's something for everyone and every age. The evening is being produced by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association in cooperation with Warner Bros.
The Hollywood Bowl is a famous natural amphitheatre built into the Hollywood Hills. For the third year in a row, it's been voted the Best Major Outdoor Venue in the United States. Rotary and the Hollywood Bowl have had a wonderful history. During the 1922 and 1962 Rotary International Conventions in Los Angeles, events have been held at the Bowl. In fact, the Hollywood Bowl served as the site of the Opening Ceremonies for the 1962 Convention with Ronald Reagan as emcee. Guess who will be the emcee for our LA2008 evening at The Bowl?
It's going to be fun and exciting. It's not too late to order your tickets! Great seats are still available.
